Most poker players at an online casino au, at one time, have read a book or a series of online articles about betting strategy. Unless you are just born very lucky, you’ll quickly find that opponents can out-think you until you have perfected your skills on basic strategy.
Playing blackjack, though, is something a lot of people think they are able to do naturally.
After all, it’s a game we may be familiar with – at least, we may have played many hands of pontoon around the family dining table.
Blackjack, though, is also a game that rewards those who take the time to learn at least basic strategy. It’s not enough to just know that you should always take another card when you have 11 or less in your hand.
One of the ways this will be shown to you is when you see others around the table winning big and often by doubling down.
If you are unfamiliar with the term, it is something you can do after you see your first two cards.
Most online casinos will have rules about when you can double down – that is, put another bet of the same amount next to your original stake.
It’s really only something, anyway, that you should consider if you have 9, 10 or 11 showing.
It can be a very rewarding strategy – particularly if your hand totals 11, because there is a relatively high chance that the card you get next will have a 10 value and put you on 21.
As to whether to double down on 9 or 10, it’s something you should study. There are lots of websites where you can learn the “golden rules”, but basically it comes down to what card the dealer has showing.
If you learn to act according to the dealer’s upcard, based on a probability of success, you have a much greater chance of staying ahead.
